Three Delicious Mocktail Ideas for a Refreshing Summer

By: Jeanette Hernandez

Are you thirsty for a refreshing, non-alcoholic summer drink? We are, too! Here are three mocktail recipes to try.

Summer’s here, and it’s time to give yourself a break. Whether it’s with a good read, a staycation, or a tasty drink after a swim, start making those summer plans happen.

Now, tasty drinks don’t necessarily mean getting drunk like we’re in our 20s. While that’s certainly an option (we don’t judge!), there are also plenty of great non-alcoholic options, including a tasty virgin sangria, a non-alcoholic paloma, and a lime and mint soda that could be your next favorite summer drink.

And before you get anxious and think it’s boring not to drink alcohol, you may be surprised to know that more people are deciding to quit. In fact, people are becoming more “sober curious.” A recent survey found that Americans are cutting back on drinking, with more than two in five (41%) Americans trying to drink less, an increase of 7 percent from last year.

So, if you’re looking for an alternative drink, here are three mocktail recipes to keep in mind for the Fourth of July and beyond.

Virgin Sangria

Love sangria? Us too. This refreshing and family-friendly version is perfect for everyone, including kids at the carne asada. It’s made with a mix of orange, lemon, and lime slices, chopped apples, red and white grape juices, and freshly squeezed citrus juices. Top it off with sparkling apple cider or seltzer for a bubbly finish.

Virgin Paloma

Another refreshing party drink is the virgin paloma. Think of it as the classic paloma, but without the hangover after a night of dancing. This mocktail features fresh grapefruit juice, lime juice, honey, and club soda. You can even add a salt rim for that authentic touch.

Lime and Mint Sodas

This personal favorite combines the tanginess of lime with the freshness of mint. This drink is refreshing and invigorating with finely chopped fresh mint leaves, quartered limes, lime cordial, ice cubes, and chilled soda water.
