Madonna and Salma Hayek unite for a mesmerizing performance in Mexico City, captivating audiences with their iconic presence.
Salma Hayek and Madonna shared the stage on the night of April 26th at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, to close out the Celebration Tour of the Queen of Pop in the country. The Mexican actress, renowned for her role as Frida Kahlo in the self-titled 2002 film, made her entrance wearing the iconic painter’s attire as the emblematic song “Vogue” played.
Upon seeing the talented actress, Madonna couldn’t contain her excitement and gave her a warm embrace before inviting her to take a seat in one of the “judges” chairs, where she evaluated the movements of her dancers. This gesture is part of a recurring dynamic on the tour, where celebrities like Ricky Martin or Cardi B, have been invited to participate in the evaluation of a portion of the show.
Mexico was fortunate to host the Queen of Pop on a tour that consisted of five performances, featuring guest appearances by Mexican influencer Wendy Guevara and Cuban actor Alberto Guerra, who also participated as judges in different performances.
It is important to note that, during her time in Mexico, Madonna expressed her appreciation for the country and her admiration for emblematic figures of Mexican culture, such as Frida Kahlo. In one of her concerts, she shared: “When I was a child, I discovered Frida Kahlo. I went to the only museum that existed in Detroit, and although there were Diego Rivera murals everywhere, my attention was drawn to a small image of a beautiful woman with braided hair and intense eyes.”
Additionally, media reported that one of the first places the singer visited upon arriving in Mexico City was the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as “Casa Azul” (Blue House), where she presumably attended a private dinner or event. Her daughter Mercy James shared a selfie on Instagram, evidence of their visit to the famous museum.
It is relevant to mention that Mexico was the penultimate stop on the tour before its conclusion. The next destination for the Queen of Pop is Brazil, where, on May 4th, she will conclude this legendary four-decade tour with a free concert on the Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, where an audience of around two million spectators is expected.
