Here Are Five Latina Songs We’re Rooting For at This Year’s Latin Grammys

By: Jeanette Hernandez

The Latin Grammys are back, and we're cheering on these five Latina-led songs that made us dance, feel, and vibe all year long! From Kali Uchis to J Noa, here are the five songs by Latina artists we're rooting for at this year's ceremony.

The 2025 Latin Grammys are just around the corner! This year marks the ceremony’s 25th anniversary, making it extra exciting to watch. Who are we rooting for? Our Latina besties, of course! After all, they’re the ones who made our year memorable with catchy tracks that bring back memories with every listen.

To get ready for the big night, here are five Latina songs we hope will win big at tomorrow’s ceremony in Miami, FL. Those interested in watching can tune in from home via Univision, Galavisión, and ViX.

Best Pop Song: Kali Uchis, Peso Pluma - “Igual Que Un Ángel”

We love our Colombian-American pop queen! Uchis has four nominations: she’s up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Song for her collaboration with Peso Pluma, “Igual Que Un Ángel,” Best Pop Vocal Album for Orquídeas, and Best Reggaeton Performance for “Labios Mordidos” with Karol G. But we’re especially rooting for her collab with Peso Pluma in Record of the Year because it shows that spontaneity can work. Who would’ve thought we’d hear Peso Pluma on a disco bop?

Record of the Year: Mon Laferte - “Tenochtitlán”

Chilean-Mexican singer Mon Laferte always prioritizes her authentic style — and that’s why she deserves to win tomorrow night. Rather than following trends (like the recent corridos tumbados boom), Laferte delivered an experimental album blending cumbia, trip-hop, and more, offering a fresh perspective. One of the most intriguing tracks is “Tenochtitlán,” a top contender for Record of the Year.

Song of the Year: Karol G - “Mi Ex Tenía Razón”

Colombian superstar Karol G poured her heart into “Mi Ex Tenía Razón.” By infusing it with Selena Quintanilla’s signature Tex-Mex, she made the song nostalgic for cumbia lovers. Co-written by Mexican songwriter Edgar Barrera, the track is a strong contender for Song of the Year, especially as it aligns with Karol’s relationship journey. What can we say? We love love! Karol has also been nominated in categories like Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Reggaeton Performance, and more.

Best Alternative Song: J Noa - “Cabecear”

Dominican rapper and singer J Noa made waves with her track “Cabecear.” With powerful verses set to a pop-rock and rap fusion, the 19-year-old artist proves she’s a force to be reckoned with. This is J Noa’s only Latin Grammy nomination this year, where she’s up against other talented Latinas like Nicole Horts, Francisca Valenzuela, and Goyo. Let’s be real: they all deserve this recognition!

Best Regional Song: Becky G featuring Ángela Aguilar and Leonardo Aguilar - “Por El Contrario”

Mexican-American pop star Becky G’s “Por El Contrario” would be a major win for Latinas. Not only does it feature two of Mexico’s top regional Mexican artists, Ángela and Leonardo Aguilar, but it was co-written by Venezuelan-American singer-songwriter Elena Rose, highlighting the power of Latina collaboration. The song was such a hit that Becky also released a demo version on her newest album ENCUENTROS, giving the track a second life.

What songs are you rooting for at this year’s Latin Grammys?
