Former President Obama, Here Are Five Latina Artists You Should Listen To

By: Jeanette Hernandez

Former President Barack Obama unveiled his summer playlist without Latina artists. We get it—he’s busy. So, here’s who we recommend he listen to for the next installation.

Former President Barack Obama has just unveiled his annual summer playlist. This year, he’s tuned in to Latin artists like Puerto Rican pop star Bad Bunny, Colombian sensation Feid, and more.

“With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix,” the former U.S. president wrote online. “I hope you find something new to listen to!”

It seems Obama is a fan of Bad Bunny and Feid’s “Perro Negro,” a fan-favorite track from Bad Bunny’s latest album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana. The song is about a famous Colombian nightclub.

In addition to Bad Bunny and Feid, other Latin artists on his diverse playlist include Calimossa with “What’s In The Tea,” and the reggaeton banger “BAD BOY” by Puerto Rican artists Chris Jedi, Gaby Music, and Dei V. The latter track also features Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA and Puerto Rican-Dominican artist Ozuna.

This isn’t the first time Bad Bunny has been featured on Obama’s summer playlists. He appeared in 2022 with the Bomba Estéreo-assisted “Ojitos Lindos,” and in 2020 with J Balvin’s “Un Día (One Day)” featuring Tainy and Dua Lipa. Obama also included the Cardi B and J Balvin hit “I Like It” as one of his favorite songs in 2018.

Other Spanish-language artists featured in his annual playlists include Karol G and Shakira with “TQG,” and Spanish singer Rosalía with Rauw Alejandro’s “Vampiros” in 2023. That same year, he also included Dominican-American rapper Ice Spice’s “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj and Chicana artist La Doña’s “Penas Con Pan.”

However, this year, he didn’t include any Latinas.

But don’t worry – we know he’s busy. So, here are five tracks we recommend for Mr. Obama’s next playlist:

  1. Karol G – “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”

2. Young Miko – “ID” featuring Jowell & Randy

3. Estevie – “Como Yo”

4. Girl Ultra – “Guapa”

5. The Linda Lindas – “Yo Me Estreso”
