María Félix’s bioseries shows us the origin of this iconic actress and many details of her life, friendships and loves.
"I am a woman with the heart of a man," declares Félix in the opening of the first trailer of this Univision production, which tells the life story of the legendary Mexican actress and icon.
Actress and singer Sandra Echeverría takes on the lead role in the María Félix series: that of 'La Doña'. The wonderful thing about this installment is that it allows us to get to know aspects of this great icon of Mexican cinema. The different episodes explore topics such as the teenage Félix’s relationship with her strict father (who was a military officer), the moment when she won a beauty contest, and her wedding to her first husband, Enrique Alvarez, who was the father of her only son.
The María Félix bioseries also tells the story of how she was discovered by a talent scout while walking down the street. Thanks to that, she became the star of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. But beyond that, the series also shows her more feminist side, as when she demands to be paid the same as her male counterparts in the entertainment industry.
As if that weren't enough, this installment also includes details about the romantic relationships that 'La Doña' had with her other three husbands: composer Agustín Lara, actor Jorge Negrete and banker Alex Berger. It also details her relationship with painter Antoine Tzapoff and her friendship with painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with whom she had a close friendship.
