Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez, a lawyer and journalist by profession, has defied beauty standards by being crowned “Miss Universe Buenos Aires” at the age of 60. Her courage and determination set an important precedent for inclusion in beauty pageants.
Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez, a 60-year-old lawyer, has just been crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires 2024, and now she is preparing for the national contest that will take place on May 25th in the Argentine capital.
This unprecedented event has occurred thanks to a change in the Miss Universe regulations, which came into effect this year and allows women of 18 years and older to qualify for the contest. Another important change, announced in 2022, is that now the participation of married women and mothers is also allowed, thus promoting a much more inclusive environment in one of the most-watched beauty pageants in the world.
Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez’s dream has come true in this new stage of the contest. At the same time, a historical precedent is set that will surely influence the redefinition of beauty standards.
“I am very happy to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but also another set of values. I am the first in this generation to start with this,” she declared on the Arriba Argentinos television program.
Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a professional journalist and lawyer. Without marital commitments or children, she maintains an open perspective towards love and does not rule out the possibility of a meaningful relationship, as she stated in an interview with La Nación newspaper.
At 60, she stands out for her active lifestyle, enjoying activities such as running, and gymnastics, and following a healthy diet with intermittent fasting practices.
Her motivations for participating in the contest were diverse: the change in the contest’s rules that now allow women of all ages to compete, the encouragement of a friend who also participated, and the perception of the contest as a personal challenge and a unique opportunity to bet on something different in her life.
As Alejandra mentioned during an interview with Telenoche, her participation sends a clear message: age and circumstances should not be obstacles to pursuing our goals and dreams.
After her unexpected triumph, Alejandra is now preparing for the national competition with courses in public speaking, runway walking, and ceremonial etiquette for the competition on May 25th. If she wins the Miss Universe Argentina 2024 crown, Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez will represent her country, competing with candidates from around the world in the Miss Universe 2024 contest, which will take place in Mexico.
We wish her the greatest success in this exciting journey! Her courage and determination are an inspiring example for all women who wish to follow in her footsteps, regardless of their age.
