From Financial Donations to Renting Hotel Rooms: How Latin Stars Are Supporting LA Fire Relief This Month.
The Los Angeles wildfires are, unfortunately, still ongoing. While the two major fires—Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire—are actively contained, they continue to affect surrounding structures, families, and homes. Amid the tragedy, one silver lining is the overwhelming love and support being shown by our beloved celebrities and communities. And guess what? You can also join the wildfire relief efforts by sharing or donating to trusted organizations.
LA is not alone—and its communities are stepping up like never before. After the wildfires began last Tuesday (Jan. 7), the LA community mobilized, quickly finding ways to help those in need. Thanks to the power of social media, users have been sharing helpful resources for housing, pet care, and essential goods.
And the word is still spreading.
Now, celebrities are using their platforms to support relief organizations and encourage their fans and peers to do the same.
Here are some of the Latin stars lending a hand in LA fire relief—and the organizations they’re supporting, in case you want to join the cause.
Selena Gomez
After the Golden Globes, Mexican-American pop star and actress Selena Gomez stepped in to help the Angeleno community. Her beauty brand, Rare Beauty, put together emergency care kits filled with essentials, which they donated to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and World Central Kitchen.
Rare Beauty also shared a compiled list of mental health resources, volunteer opportunities, and more.
Maná
The iconic Mexican rock band Maná was one of the first to use their platform to aid LA fire relief. They announced support for organizations like the Los Angeles Fire Department, World Central Kitchen, and the Pasadena Community Job Center.
To help these organizations, check their respective social media accounts to see how you can contribute today.
Eiza González
Mexican actress Eiza González is also using her voice to support Latin families affected by the wildfires.
She has been spreading the word about specific Latin families in need of financial aid.
“These are some of my fellow Latino families who lost everything,” she wrote online. “If anyone reading this feels the urge to help from afar, these families probably won’t get as much attention, and even a dollar could change their lives. I will be donating to all of them.”
Chiquis Rivera
Mexican-American singer and Internet personality Chiquis Rivera joined the effort last weekend. She shared a photo of herself volunteering at Santa Anita Park, where people gathered to donate and distribute goods to those in need. She also used her platform to list organizations accepting donations.
Fuerza Regida
Mexican-American group Fuerza Regida is another artist helping with LA fire relief. The San Bernardino natives rented a hotel for six days starting Jan. 11 to shelter those affected.
“We placed a few thoughtful gifts in each hotel room as a small gesture of love and support,” they wrote online. “Please continue to pray, donate, or volunteer to help those affected by the LA fires.”
