From Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade’s incredible Olympic performance to Argentine trap star Cazzu’s comeback, here are five epic Latina moments in 2024.
One thing about Latinas is that we are a driving force. Our representatives excel with talent across every industry. From the Olympics to the Grammys, Latina powerhouses showed up for us throughout 2024, reminding us that hard work pays off and that they’re a force to be reckoned with.
As we close another year, it’s the perfect time to step back and reflect on the outstanding memories our favorite Latinas gave us. These moments struck a chord in our hearts, leaving us with a sense of pride. Most importantly, they reminded us that Latinas can accomplish anything we set our hearts on.
From Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade’s incredible Olympic wins to Argentine trap star Cazzu’s comeback, Latinas have shown us how far talent and resilience can take you.
To continue celebrating their achievements, here are our top five epic Latina moments of 2024:
Andrade is one of the most influential Brazilian gymnasts—and during the 2024 Olympics, she reminded the world why. After defeating Simone Biles in the floor final at the Paris Olympics, Andrade became Brazil’s most decorated gymnast.
In Paris, she earned four medals: one gold, two silver, and one bronze. With six Olympic medals overall, Andrade has now surpassed Brazilian sailor Robert Scheidt, who held five.
How’s that for an epic—and historic—Latina win this year?
As if that weren’t enough, Rebeca Andrade now has her own Barbie! Honored for Barbie’s 65th anniversary, she shared online, “I never imagined that one day I could be Barbie! It’s an honor to be chosen alongside such big names in sports.”
Puerto Rican-American actress Liza Colón-Zayas made history this year in the television world. Colón-Zayas became the first Latina to win the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2024 Emmys, thanks to her role as Tina Marrero on The Bear.
In her acceptance speech, she said, “Thank you for giving me new life with this show… And to all the Latinas who are looking at me, keep believing—and vote. Vote for your rights.”
Up next, the Latina star is nominated for the first time at the 2025 Golden Globes. She’s up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television.
Karol G thrived this year in the music world. Not only did she make history as the first Latina to win two Grammys for Best Urban Music Album, but she also left her mark in pop culture.
In 2024, the Colombian superstar became the first musician to receive her very own Bratz doll. What an epic move for Latinas in pop culture!
It’s been a long time coming, but Shakira is finally ready to kick off her highly-anticipated tour in 2025. Initially scheduled for fall 2024, the Colombian queen delayed her U.S. tour dates to make production adjustments. But for good reason—she needed stadiums instead of her original arena-only setup to accommodate more loyal fans.
How’s that for a boss move in 2024?
Fans are more excited than ever to see La Loba back on stage. Can you believe her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour will be her first tour since the El Dorado World Tour in 2018? We’re ready for you, Shakira!
Argentine trap star Cazzu is back after her public breakup with Mexican singer Christian Nodal. In 2024, gossip surrounding Nodal, his now-wife Ángela Aguilar, and Cazzu dominated headlines—but it looks like Cazzu has officially moved on.
In December, she made her first stage appearance of the year at a trap festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This performance marked her return after months away from the spotlight and symbolized a new chapter for the singer—one filled with fierceness and resilience.
Not only that, but Cazzu also released her first single of the year, “LA CUEVA,” signaling the beginning of a comeback era in 2025.
